Compliance Explained

The Compliance section of accounting encompasses the legal obligations of a business to report its activity to HMRC and Companies House. This ensures that the correct tax is paid, and business details are kept up to date. Examples of such legal obligations are:

  • Submitting Returns (Corporation Tax, VAT, etc)
  • Filing Annual Accounts with Companies House
  • Filing Confirmation Statements

In essence, these submissions & filings inform HMRC & Companies House regarding the activity and financial position of the business during or at the end of the financial year. As a director, you are legally responsible that the documents submitted are accurate, complete, in the correct format and submitted on time. We will prepare everything to the required standards and send them to you for approval. Once approved, the reports will be submitted in the correct formats to both HMRC & Companies House.

The deadlines for submissions are:

  • Annual Accounts9 Months after Year-End
  • Pay Corporation Tax9 Months & 1 Day after Year-End
  • File CT Return12 Months after Year-End
